They called the gypsies “egiptanos” because they thought they came from Egipt as they introduced themselves as noble egiptians. Gypsies have nothing to do with people from Cadiz. Of course there is a large comunity over there, but thats it. Gypsies came from the eastern countries. The ones in spain are mainly Calé`s. PDL was not a gypsy. His mother was Portuguese and his father was “Payo” not gypsy.
